For the Music video we wanted to have a reliable cast and a set of professional production members. We picked Jacob Flowers (me) for the main role after auditioning a list of Hollywood actors such as Robert Downey junior, Vin Diesel, David Hassellhoff, Brad Pitt and Jonny Depp.
In the end we went with the most talented actor after a rigorous auditioning process which was me, this would be the obvious choice.
We also hired another actor for the priest, we went with Toby as no other priest was available and he looks like a middle aged man.
We hired my brother to help out behind the scenes with filming and running Erin's such as getting us bagels, water and occasionally fanning us to cool us down.
Lastly we hired Imogen (Toby's sister) to be the girl who gets killed.
On Monday the 27th we are going to be filming at Sutton-in-Ashfield: St Mary Magdalene church.
We will also be filming performance at Sutton Meadows in Sutton Ashfield and a Pond near toby's house, here are some shots of the locations.
We are also be going to be filming in a derelict building.
We chose locations close by for convenience as they are all located in Sutton in Ashfield, however are still perfect settings for our video (especially the Church) a special thanks to Chris Milner for getting us permission to film in the church.
Me nd Toby have decided we are going to film over half term as this will give us the most time to shoot the video. We have decided that we are going to film the first part of the video on the 27th of October (Monday). On this day we will be shooting some performance, and narrative of the woman at the pond, finishing off with establishing shots of run down buildings and things to set the mood of the track. We also have a 3 hour slot in the church from 2 till 5.
The weather on the day should be dry and humid, the sun also sets at quarter to five therefore we could go an hour or so before to get a darker setting which is what we want. However we don't want to leave it too late or it will be too dark to film.
Me and Toby have now decided on a narrative for our video, however not yet fully storyboarded we do have a rough outline of the plot.
The video will involve me committing a murder and being haunted by spirits (me being haunted by spirits will come in the whispering sections of the song and will mainly be performance based)
The video will show me looking at a woman next to a pond/in a field hinting at the fact I have killed her (we will probably have a POV of me staring at her and then a quick zoom to imply I have killed her).
This will then lead to me being in a bathroom will blood on my hands and the woman's hand hanging out of a bath.
A priest will then kill me because of the sins I have committed, one of the scenes will include me being ripped apart on a table (using meat/blood) and some of it will be shot in a church (hopefully).
We will also have shots of an abandoned building like in the psychroptic video.
We are now going to create a storyboard over the next few lessons.
In recent lessons I have been constructing my website. I am currently working on my home page, tours page and shop. I have built some rough pages on my website that are not finished just to test things out and see what it looks like. The theme of my website is simple with black and white colours, I also may add some symbols or imagery relating to my artist at a later stage.
Here you can see I have made a shop page, I have included the prices and the items I have included are t shirts hats and merchandise. I have made this page very clear with large images so the viewer can see what they are buying.
I have also included links to various social media sites on my website, e.g. iTunes, twitter, Facebook ect. These are only on my homepage at the moment but they will soon be integrated onto every page.
My tour page includes all of the bands latest tours and tickets, however I need to add more to this page as it is very spacious.
I have included a news real on my homepage like many other websites I have looked at, however I am unsure weather or not to add a full news page, depending on if I have enough creativity and information to fill a whole page with news about the band.
This video by Behemoth has gave me some ideas for my music video. The imagery and mood of the music video is similar to something we want to create for our music video.
I really like the opening 30 seconds for this video as it sets the tone. The imagery used is very religious and this fits with our track. The opening consists of extreme close ups of objects such as candles and Christ ornaments, it fades every time it goes onto a different image and it also matches the tempo of the music. This is something we could easily do, we could get religious type objects and candles into a room and create a sequence like this.
Most of the shots are also slightly out of focus which can look good if used correctly. There is also scenes of the artist drinking wine and blood which would look cool in our music video. Perhaps I could (pretend) to drink some wine and then it turns into blood?
Priests and Jewellery/beads where in the music video, we are getting a priest costume for our music video and I think I will invest in some jewellery also.
We wanted to get a variety of setting's in my music video, and one of them is at my house. My garden has some good settings we could use in my video. I took some shots of some potential shots/settings we could perhaps use. There is also a shot of me looking into a mirror I thought this looked good in one of Mushroom head's video and we could use it for the narrative section. These are just starting ideas of some of the shots/setting we could use and what mood we are trying to create in the video.
Today in class we looked at templates we could possibly use for our website. The conventions for websites in our genre are dark colours such as black so therefore I picked a template which suited this. Furthermore I wanted to the website to be fairly simple to suit an older audience as well as a younger audience as our target audience ranges from teens to 40's. I picked a template similar to the Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails with a simple banner at the top telling you where to go and a spacious pages.
I wanted my website to be simplistic as this fit's our track, my track is quite spiritual and religious therefore I wanted it to feel that way. The font I have chosen is a simple font as it needs to be clear however it suits our genre as it is mixed with futuristic and creepy. The text is white on black to stand out.
On my homepage I have included my latest video, which will eventually be my music video after it is created (but for now it is the film task we did). I wanted this straight in the Middle like the Marilyn Manson website as this draws the viewers attention to the video which is important in promoting the track. At the side I have also included social media links (not finished) to share the track and also a link to buy on ITunes.
Overall today was mainly for getting used to the website and playing around with the features it has to offer. However I also got started on building it.
After watching the video Initiate by PSYCROPTIC I really like some of the shots used. At the start of the video there are shots of creepy locations such as abandoned buildings, forests and empty spaces. This would fit extremely well with our track as it is a creepy track with the whispering, also with the track associated with murder and horror films this really set the mood for the music video. Interesting camera angles are also used for the shots, for example floor level shots which look really good. I will defiantly by using shots like this for my music video.
I also took note of the camera movement, the camera shakes in some of the shots and it looks distorted and weird, this matches the mood of the shots. The shots taken also build up and go from outside, through the building and into the room where the artist is. This builds up tension and I also really like it as this would fit with our murder narrative. We could have a number of establishing shots leading up to me in a building sat in corner like the artist in this video is doing. The emptiness of the shots also illustrates loneliness' and fits with the lyrics of 'I'm cold and I'm scared and alone'.
Overall I really like the build up to this video and think it would fit very well with the mood of our track. I will defiantly take some ideas from the video and implement them into my video.
While researching videos in my genre I came across a video by Pain which I found was simple but looked professional. For example there are shots of him in a forest which looks similar to the one we
are going to film at: I also like this long shot from a low angle.
These are the types of shots and angles I would like to include in my video. We can also easily achieve this as the costume and setting is easily accessible.
I also like how this video mixes performance with narrative, this is something we are looking to do as it keeps the viewer engaged.
I also like the concept of roses of flowers in our video. I this video there is a time lapse of the flower dying which looks really cool, maybe we could do something like this. This is also a common theme in the genre.
I also like these shots on the water, their is a pond near toby's house that we could use for this, the shot where the artist shakes his head is also really cool, another shot I liked in this was when the camera went over and down the artists body as he stared at the camera, it makes him look like he's powerful and menacing.
Overall this video is very simple and is something we can easily accomplish, however in our video we are looking to include more effects in the editing process and lots more angles and settings.
