System Of A Down - Chop Suey!

This music video for System of a Down's 'Chop Suey!' uses special effects, camera angles and transitions very well. The setting and props for the video is not that interesting compared to some of the previous videos I have analysed. The video consists of the band performing live and doesn't seen to interesting to watch, however it uses effects very well and the music matches with the video.

The video editing and camera match very well to the temp of the music, for example when the music beat picks up the camera movement becomes more extreme and the editing it more rapid :
Here you can see that the editing becomes much faster, this is what I really like about this video as it matches the beat of the music very well, I also liked some of the effects in this clip like the duplication of the guys head. There is also a shot of one of the band members holding the camera in front of him which I really like.

The opposite side of this is when the music slows down in tempo, this is accompanied by the editing getting slower and the camera moving slower, the shots I like in this are where the band members are holding the camera and pointing it towards themselves giving off a relaxed feel matching the tempo of the music.

There are also many effects I like which I would like love to use, however they would probably be very difficult to do, these effects look very cool:

This effect makes it look like the band are teleporting and matches the beat of the music also.

This effect/movement of the camera is awesome and looks really good, especially with the crane shot straight after. The camera moves underneath the stage and when it comes back up the band member changes.

This last effect I'm going to show you makes it look like the band members are going through each other, this is another awesome effect.

Overall this video is simple however is still really good because of the editing skills and unusual angles ect.
